What is a Therapy Intensive?

A Therapy Intensive offers an opportunity for an extended and intensive therapy session over the course of a full day, or several days.

What can I expect?

You will be my only client for each full working day of your intensive. I typically offer intensives from 9 AM to 4 PM with an hour break for lunch, and additional breaks as/if needed or when clinically indicated.

We will begin with a brief orientation and overview of the agenda for the day(s). I will take a thorough history about your presenting concerns and may administer brief psychological assessments depending on your identified treatment priorities. I will ask you about your treatment history/what you have tried so far, and about your short and long term goals.

Upon completion of these tasks, we can move into therapeutic work focused on addressing one or more of your identified goals. Therapeutic processes differ from person to person, however the general structure for an Intensive is:

  1. Introductions and Orientation; complete history taking and assessment

  2. Begin working to address presenting issues, trauma, and loss, often utilizing EDMR therapy. If you are seeking to address a single, acute incident (such as a car crash) we may be able to complete this portion of work within 1-3 days. If you are seeking to address chronic /repeated traumas, we may benefit from additional time.

  3. Upon completion of trauma processing work, we will learn and practice new coping skills to help you safely and healthily manage anticipated future challenges. We will integrate these tools into a continuing care plan for you to follow after completing your intensive to help you stay on track towards your goals.

  4. You may plan for additional follow-up or therapy as needed and in accordance with clinical recommendations.

Who can benefit from a Therapy Intensive?

Sometimes, a standard 50-minute therapy session once per week session is challenging to maintain for individuals with demanding work, family, academic, and personal commitments. Therapy Intensives are beneficial for people looking to accomplish a lot of therapeutic work in a much shorter window of time.

Typically, I recommend in-person Therapy Intensives. Telehealth Intensives may be available on a case by case basis.

Associated Fees
